Job Description

Area of Interest: Sales and Investments

Business Area: International Wealth and Premier Banking

Short Description: Grow your career helping deliver specialist investment insights and solutions

About the business area

Our International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) business serves over 40 million customers globally, ranging from retail customers to ultra-high net worth individuals and their families. We help them to take care of their day-to-day finances and manage, protect and grow their wealth.

Asset Management invests on behalf of HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions. It connects our clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices.

Who you are

You’re analytical, motivated and keen to understand how investment strategies play out in the real world. You enjoy working with numbers, making sense of complex information and learning from experienced professionals around you. You could be a great fit if you learn quickly, stay focused under pressure and keep a calm, constructive mindset when things don’t go to plan. You work well with others, pay close attention to detail and want to apply what you learn to real projects.

Alternative investing is putting money into assets beyond shares, bonds, and cash—like property, infrastructure, private companies, or commodities—often to diversify and potentially earn more, but with higher complexity and harder-to-sell investments. If you’re curious and want to build your understanding from the inside, this could be a strong fit.

What you'll do

You’ll work with senior colleagues and fund managers on live Alternatives projects. You could support benchmarking and fundraising activity, research market trends and investment opportunities, and help interpret industry insight that informs decisions. You may also contribute to quantitative and cash flow modelling, manage multiple priorities across the team and help solve problems as they come up in a fast-moving environment. It’s practical, detail-focused work that will help you build a stronger understanding of hedge fund strategies, asset classes and how investment teams operate day to day.

What you'll learn

This programme combines structured learning, professional qualifications and rotational exposure to help you build a strong investment skillset. Before induction, you’ll complete the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), and during the programme you’ll have the opportunity to study towards the CFA. While anchored to a home desk, you’ll also have opportunities to rotate into other teams to broaden your understanding of asset management and investment decision-making. Ongoing mentoring and on-the-job learning will help you deepen your knowledge of asset classes, research and portfolio thinking, while strengthening your analytical and professional confidence. By the end, you’ll have a more rounded view of the specalist investment area and a stronger platform for long-term growth.

Where you'll work

You’ll work in the Alternatives investment environment within International Wealth and Premier Banking, alongside senior colleagues and fund managers focused on specialist investment strategies. It’s a collaborative office culture where deep expertise, market insight and careful analysis all matter. You’ll be part of a professional setting that values precision, teamwork and thoughtful discussion, with exposure to a specialist area of investing where different perspectives and strong partnership help shape decisions.
