Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for an Interim Finance/Senior Finance Director at Pragmatic Semiconductor for a period of circa 6 months to partner with the CFO and support the business with outstanding technical accounting and reporting skills, as well as driving a strong control environment. We will be recruiting this role permanently too, so we will consider both candidates who are specialist Interims as well as those open to a temp-to-perm role.

This is a key, hands-on leadership role where you will work across the organisation and provide interim leadership to a Finance team which provides critical decision support across the company.

Operating at the heart of our fast-growing, capital-intensive technology and manufacturing business and managing a range of stakeholder requirements, this is a role that requires strong management and organisational capabilities, as well as appreciation of the complexities of the business that will enable you to bring a key influence.

We are seeking candidates comfortable operating in both a strategic and hands-on manner - at both detail and big-picture level. You will be highly collaborative, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively, as well as the resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-changing, high-growth environment.

The role will be based in Cambridge at our headquarters, so you will ideally be based in Cambridge or within reasonable commuting distance. Due to timescales, we require candidates to be able to start by late September/early October, at the latest.

This an outstanding opportunity for an experienced FD to join a disruptive and hugely exciting business during a critical period, as we scale our commercial and manufacturing operations.

Key tasks

  • Lead and oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis

  • Partner with the CFO and executive leadership team to develop and execute the company’s financial strategy

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting

  • Drive financial performance monitoring and provide actionable insights to support operational efficiency and profitability

  • Manage financial risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold corporate governance standards

  • Oversee cash flow management, capital allocation, and investment decisions

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to enhance skills and performance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Operations, Engineering and the Commercial functions to align financial goals with business objectives

  • Support financing and capital raising processes

  • Maintain strong relationships with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other financial partners

Qualifications and training

Candidates will ideally hold a professional qualification such as ACA/ACCA/CIMA, or will possess equivalent experience.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience and track record at FD level

  • Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving business performance

  • Strong proficiency in financial systems and ERP software

  • Expertise in financial planning, analysis and reporting

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights

  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset

  • Experience in a scaling technology, deep-tech, semiconductor or manufacturing environment (desirable)

  • Experience building or transforming FP&A functions in a high-growth business (desirable)

  • Exposure to capital-intensive or product-led business models (desirable)
