ILD Respiratory Nurse Specialist - Medical Specialties

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 nurse to join the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Service within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role supports the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred service for patients with complex and often progressive respiratory conditions, including Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, Sarcoidosis and Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis.

Working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in coordinating care and supporting patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment journey.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• This is a permanent post working full-time hours(36) these hours will be worked Monday-Saturday
• You will be based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary -you will work across acute, outpatient and community settings.
  
  

Key Responsibilities

You will coordinate and deliver specialist nursing care for patients with interstitial lung disease, ensuring a high standard of person-centred care throughout the patient pathway. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support patients through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of their condition.

You will provide expert advice and support to patients and their families, contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives, and help ensure the delivery of an effective and responsive specialist respiratory service across a range of clinical settings.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Experience in respiratory nursing or caring for patients with long-term respiratory conditions.
• Knowledge of interstitial lung disease (ILD) or a willingness to develop specialist knowledge in this area.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support patients and their families.
• Strong clinical assessment, organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred, evidence-based care.
• Willingness to contribute to service development, quality improvement and ongoing professional development.
