Job Description
The Randolph Hill Group is a distinguished provider of long-term and short-term care services, specializing in supporting individuals with particular medical needs, especially frail older adults. Our organization operates a network of nursing homes committed to delivering high-quality care within safe, homely environments. We prioritize the development of skilled, compassionate staff teams and foster a culture of excellence, empathy, and professionalism. Our philosophy centers on providing competent and personalized care tailored to each resident's unique needs. Despite our growth, we maintain a close-knit, supportive community that values internal career progression, extensive training, and high standards of care. The Randolph Hill Group is dedicated to continuous improvement, ensuring that our services adapt to changing needs while maintaining financial stability and operational efficiency. We are proud of our reputation for delivering exceptional care and fostering a positive working environment for our staff.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join our senior management team and oversee the HR functions across all seven nursing homes and the head office. This is a pivotal role, serving as the first dedicated HR professional within the organization, responsible for providing expert support and strategic guidance on all employment-related matters. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for home managers on HR issues, ensuring that employment practices are handled correctly from the outset to prevent escalation. The role requires navigating the complex intersection of employment law with regulatory requirements set by bodies such as the SSSC, NMC, and Care Inspectorate. Key responsibilities include managing compliance with right-to-work regulations and visa sponsorship, auditing HR policies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The HR Manager will play a critical role in supporting operational excellence, fostering a positive workplace culture, and ensuring legal and regulatory adherence across the organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable HR experience, preferably within healthcare settings such as private care homes, nursing homes, the NHS, or other regulated health and social care environments. A CIPD qualification at Level 5 / SCQF Level 9 or equivalent is required. Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practices, and regulatory frameworks established by the SSSC, NMC, and Care Inspectorate. Experience managing complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, and long-term absence procedures, is essential. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and support senior management and operational teams effectively. A proactive approach to policy development, compliance, and staff development is vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Manage disciplinary, grievance, capability, and absence procedures end-to-end, ensuring compliance with employment law and ACAS codes of practice.
- Advise on employment law matters in relation to regulatory requirements from SSSC, NMC, and Care Inspectorate, ensuring organizational compliance.
- Support senior management by handling employee relations caseloads, enabling operational focus on clinical and service delivery aspects.
- Liaise with external employment lawyers on complex or high-risk cases to ensure appropriate resolution.
- Oversee right-to-work compliance, including monitoring visa expiry dates, renewals, and documentation management.
- Manage the sponsorship process as the authorising officer for Certificates of Sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route.
- Coordinate PVG scheme memberships, applications, and renewals across all homes.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of staffing notifications to the Care Inspectorate.
- Conduct comprehensive audits of HR policies, procedures, and documentation, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.
- Develop and maintain up-to-date HR policies aligned with legal requirements, care sector regulations, and industry best practices.
- Implement systems and processes to enhance data security and reduce manual workload, collaborating with senior management.
- Deliver in-house HR training to home managers, deputies, and team leaders, reducing reliance on external providers.
- Support performance management, coaching, and workforce development initiatives across the organization.
- Identify HR training needs, coordinate delivery, and contribute to organizational development strategies.
- Oversee pre-employment checks, onboarding, and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance and confidentiality.
- Administer HR systems, employment contracts, and documentation, maintaining accurate records in line with GDPR.
- Assist in payroll processing by ensuring accurate data submission and collaboration with finance teams.
- Analyze HR data to support decision-making, reporting, and strategic planning.
- Conduct site visits to all homes to gain detailed insights into staff practices and working conditions.
- Participate in HR projects related to staff engagement, wellbeing, and organizational growth initiatives.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion policies throughout the organization.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding staff and resident information at all times.
We offer a highly competitive salary of £60,000 per annum complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. Our employees enjoy a generous bonus scheme that recognizes and rewards outstanding performance. We prioritize work-life balance, fostering a supportive working environment with a strong senior management team. The role includes 35 days of holiday entitlement, which increases with length of service, along with a contributory pension scheme. Additional benefits include private medical healthcare, an enhanced Sick Pay Scheme providing full pay for the first three months and half pay for the subsequent three months, and opportunities for professional development.
