Job Description

About The Company

Randolph Hill Group operates seven nursing homes providing long- and short-term care for people with complex medical needs, particularly older people who are frail. We are committed to delivering high-quality care in safe, welcoming environments and supporting skilled, compassionate teams. Our homes provide individualised care with professionalism and empathy, while working to clear business standards and maintaining budgeted performance. As a growing organisation, we combine the ability to respond to local needs with the resources to provide extensive training and uphold consistent standards. We are proud of our close-knit culture, stable leadership, strong record of internal career progression and ongoing commitment to improvement.

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join the senior management team and lead the HR function across the Group. This is Randolph Hill’s first standalone HR role, offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape the function for the future. You will provide professional, practical HR support to all seven homes and head office, serving as the first point of contact for home managers on employment matters and resolving issues appropriately from the outset.

You will guide the organisation through employment law and the regulatory requirements of the SSSC, NMC and Care Inspectorate. Working closely with the Managing Director and senior leaders, you will strengthen people practices, support managers and help ensure that the Group meets its legal, regulatory and operational responsibilities.

Qualifications

You will bring demonstrable HR experience, ideally in healthcare or a regulated health and social care environment such as private care, nursing homes or the NHS. CIPD Level 5, SCQF Level 9 or an equivalent qualification is required. You will have strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, alongside an understanding of relevant care-sector regulatory frameworks.

You will also have experience managing complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and long-term absence cases. Strong communication, organisation, confidentiality and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the ability to advise managers with confidence and sound judgement.

Responsibilities

Manage disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence processes from beginning to end, applying employment law and ACAS codes of practice. Advise on cases involving SSSC, NMC and Care Inspectorate requirements, submit staffing notifications accurately and on time, and liaise with external employment lawyers on complex or high-risk matters. Support senior leaders by managing the people-related caseload and coaching managers through performance conversations.

Take ownership of right-to-work compliance, including visa expiry monitoring, renewals and records. Become the authorising officer for Skilled Worker Certificates of Sponsorship and manage the sponsorship lifecycle. Oversee PVG applications and renewals, pre-employment checks, onboarding, offboarding, contracts and employment documentation.

Audit HR policies, procedures and documents across the homes and head office, identify gaps and deliver a practical improvement plan. Develop compliant, current policies and work with the Managing Director to improve systems, data security and processes. Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in line with GDPR, administer HR systems, support payroll data preparation and provide relevant HR reporting.

Visit each home to understand its staff and working practices. Deliver in-house HR and management training, identify workforce development needs, support recruitment alongside the Recruitment Manager, and contribute to staff engagement, wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives. Protect the confidentiality of both staff and residents.

Benefits

The package includes a salary of £60,000 per annum, a company bonus scheme, 35 days’ holiday with increases for length of service, a competitive contributory pension, private medical healthcare and an enhanced sick pay scheme providing full pay for three months followed by half pay for three months. You will join a supportive senior management structure and an organisation with a strong reputation for quality care and a clear commitment to work-life balance.

Equal Opportunity

Randolph Hill Group is committed to fair and inclusive employment. We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds and experiences and aim to provide an equitable recruitment process. All applicants will be considered on their skills, qualifications and suitability for the role.
