The Role

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a Health Care Support Worker and play a vital role in delivering compassionate, person-centred care within our Obstetrics and Gynaecology service. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure patients receive the highest standards of care throughout their healthcare journey. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Full-time and part-time available, permanent
  • You will be based at The Princess Royal Maternity Unit
  • Working Pattern: TBC

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality personal care with dignity, compassion and respect under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Midwife
  • Support patients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, feeding, mobility and repositioning
  • Observe, monitor and promptly report changes in a patient's physical or emotional wellbeing to the clinical team
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to effective communication within the multidisciplinary team
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and organised clinical environment, including stock control and housekeeping duties
  • Use equipment safely and follow all NHSGGC policies, procedures and infection prevention standards
  • Build positive relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues to support an excellent care experience

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • SVQ Level 2 qualification in a relevant area or equivalent experience gained through training and practical experience
  • Experience in a caring environment or a strong commitment to providing high quality patient care
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within a busy clinical setting
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact sensitively with patients and families
  • Strong observation skills and the ability to recognise and report concerns appropriately
  • Commitment to completing mandatory training and ongoing personal and professional development
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, relevant policies, procedures, health and safety requirements and infection prevention measures
