Job Description

Head of Board & Executive Operations

Executive Office | National Role

Contract Type Permanent | Hours 37.5 hours per week*

Strengthen How Our Board And Executive Leadership Team Operate

Change Grow Live is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. As we have grown, the scale and complexity of our organisation, and the demands placed on our Board and Executive Leadership Team, have increased. Effective support and oversight are essential to ensuring we are well governed, make clear and timely decisions, and maintain focus on our priorities.

We are looking to recruit a Head of Board & Executive Operations to strengthen the processes, planning and coordination that support our Board of Trustees, Board Committees and Executive Leadership Team.

About The Role

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will lead the effective operation of our Board and Executive governance arrangements. You will ensure that the right information, processes and support are in place to enable Trustees and Executive leaders to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.

Working closely with the Board and senior colleagues, you will oversee the Board and Committee cycle, forward planning, decision-making processes and the delivery of high-quality papers, records and follow-up. You will ensure that corporate governance requirements are translated into clear, consistent and well-managed processes.

You will play an important role in strengthening the connections between the Board, its Committees and the Executive Leadership Team, supporting the appropriate flow of information, decisions and assurance between them. You will also bring together related areas of Board, Executive and executive support activity, improving coordination while maintaining clear responsibilities within each team.

This is a broad role requiring a strong understanding of corporate governance and Board process, alongside the ability to manage complex priorities, build trusted relationships and continuously improve how senior governance and decision-making operate.

What You Will Bring

You will be an experienced and credible leader with a strong background in an area such as corporate governance, Board and Committee operations, company secretarial support or executive support.

You will bring

  • Significant experience of supporting Boards, Committees and senior executive teams.
  • A strong understanding of corporate governance, Board process and the respective roles of Boards and executives.
  • Experience of managing complex governance cycles, forward plans and decision-making processes.
  • The ability to ensure that papers, decisions, actions and assurance are clear, timely and well coordinated.
  • Strong judgement and confidence in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent written communication, organisation and attention to detail.
  • The credibility to build effective relationships with Trustees, Executive Directors and senior colleagues.
  • A collaborative leadership style and a practical approach to improving systems and ways of working.

This role offers the opportunity to strengthen the processes and connections that underpin effective governance and senior decision-making across Change Grow Live.
