Job Description

Job Title: Global Employment & Mobility Specialist

Salary: £35,200 - £45,700

Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid

Contract: Fixed Term until November 2027

Hours: Full time

Are you motivated by bringing structure and clarity to complex international people challenges, while ensuring organisations operate compliantly across different countries?

We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

We are looking for a Global Employment & Mobility Specialist to join our People & Culture team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in strengthening how we manage employment foundations and global mobility across our international operations, helping us deliver on our purpose of pursuing potential.

About The Role

This role supports the development, maintenance and implementation of compliant employment foundations for Cambridge's employing entities outside the UK. You will coordinate the identification and resolution of gaps in core employment documentation, while ensuring changes in employment law and global requirements are assessed, communicated and implemented effectively.

You will also act as the central point of coordination for global mobility requests, ensuring these are managed through agreed governance processes, with clear oversight of risks, dependencies and outcomes. The role works closely with People & Culture colleagues and specialist functions to ensure a coordinated and compliant approach to international people activity.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include:

  • Coordinating the development, review and maintenance of employment contracts, policies, handbooks and related documentation to ensure compliance across international locations
  • Monitoring employment law and regulatory developments and assessing their impact on existing practices and documentation
  • Working with Legal, Tax, Payroll, Reward, Finance, HR systems and external advisers to agree and implement required changes
  • Identifying and resolving gaps in employment foundations to support compliant operations in overseas entities
  • Managing and coordinating global mobility requests from initial enquiry through to implementation
  • Providing clear guidance and communication to stakeholders on global mobility processes and employment changes
  • Supporting international People & Culture projects by coordinating delivery plans, tracking progress and managing dependencies
  • Ensuring effective handover of changes to operational teams, including People Service Delivery
  • Developing and maintaining structured delivery plans and tracking tools
  • Supporting knowledge sharing and ensuring information is accessible and consistently applied across teams
  • Identifying risks, blockers and dependencies, and escalating where appropriate
  • Promoting continuous improvement in ways of working and governance practices

This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. Aside from our hybrid principles, other flexible working requests will be considered from the first day of employment, including other work arrangements should you require adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition.

About You

You will bring experience of working in an international People or HR-related role, with strong knowledge of employment practices and the ability to coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder activities. You will be confident interpreting requirements and translating them into clear actions, documentation and practical outcomes. You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of employment law and practices across different international jurisdictions
  • Experience working with employment contracts, policies, handbooks and related documentation
  • Understanding of how People processes interact with areas such as payroll, tax, reward and systems
  • Experience of global mobility or coordinating internationally focused people activity
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and navigate complexity
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement or change implementation in People or HR functions

If you meet the above essential requirements, we encourage you to apply. Your application will be even stronger if you can also demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

  • Experience supporting global mobility governance and processes
  • Experience coordinating international projects or programmes of work
  • Familiarity with delivery tracking tools such as Jira or similar
  • Experience working with People systems such as Workday
