Job Description
About us
Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.
We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.
We are looking for a Gas Connections Manager to get our gas into the network. You own the relationship with the gas network operators and the connection process from first enquiry to a signed network entry agreement and gas flowing. You know who to call and how the operator's process really works, and you use that to shorten our financial exposure whilst also shortening our path to connection on every project. You own the process, the relationships and the timeline.
The role
- Own the relationship with gas network operators, stakeholders and regulators at working and senior levels.
- Run the connection process end to end: capacity enquiry, application, offer, acceptance, network entry agreement and gas-in approvals.
- Secure capacity, pressure tier and connection point decisions that fit the project, working with the deployment team who set the technical requirements.
- Manage the operator's approvals and witnessing through design, construction and commissioning so they land on the programme.
- Track every operator obligation, deadline and payment; keep the wider project team informed.
- Build the connection playbook: process maps, contacts, lead times, costs, and what to push on.
- Identify and assess new opportunities to connect into the gas grid maximising our potential development area.
- Work with the Deployment team on pipeline consents and operator design approvals.
Core skills
- A strong network in the gas distribution and transmission sector. You know the connections teams and how decisions actually get made.
- You have taken connections through an operator's process before, from enquiry to flowing gas.
- Relationship builder. Operators take your calls and give you straight answers.
- Process literate. You know the regulatory framework for network entry well enough to challenge an operator's timeline.
- Technically conversant. You can follow a capacity study and a gas quality spec and know when to bring the process engineer in.
- Organised and persistent. Operator processes are slow; you keep them moving without burning the relationship.
Specifics
- £75 - 95k Salary depending on experience
- Share options as part of the early team
- Extensive relocation support, including £6000 per year extra to live close to our HQ
- In-person work at our HQ in Bermondsey, South-East London – flexibility considered based on personal circumstances
- Private health insurance
- Visa sponsorship available
- Unlimited time off
We encourage exceptional applicants from all backgrounds to apply for this role, even if they do not meet all the requirements listed.
