The Role

We're partnering with a rapidly growing, venture-backed AI software startup that's already working with some of the world's largest enterprise organisations.

They're looking for exceptional software engineers who want more than a traditional development role. This is an opportunity to work directly with customers, solve genuinely difficult problems and personally build the software that makes a difference.

You don't need to have held the title Forward Deployed Engineer before. We're equally interested in outstanding Software Engineers, Product Engineers and Founding Engineers from high-performing technology startups.

You'll combine serious software engineering with product thinking and customer ownership. Rather than simply working through tickets, you'll understand complex operational problems, design solutions, build production software and see the results firsthand.

You'll work across Python, modern frontend technologies, data and AI-powered systems, helping turn complex enterprise workflows into intelligent, scalable software.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy production software for major enterprise customers.
• Work directly with users and stakeholders to understand complex business problems.
• Build across the full stack, including Python, React, TypeScript, backend services and data systems.
• Develop AI-powered applications that process documents, automate workflows and handle unstructured information.
• Take ownership of technical solutions from problem discovery through development, deployment and iteration.
• Make independent engineering and product decisions in an environment with considerable autonomy.
• Turn successful customer-specific solutions into scalable, reusable product capabilities.
• Work closely with founders and experienced engineers to influence product direction.
• Deliver high-quality software quickly, with a strong focus on reliability, usability and real-world impact.

What We’re Looking For

• A strong software engineering track record at an exceptional, high-growth technology startup or scale-up.
• Ideally around 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, although exceptional candidates outside this range will be considered.
• Strong hands-on full-stack engineering ability, particularly Python and modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
• Demonstrable experience building and shipping substantial software used in production.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to solve technically challenging problems independently.
• Excellent product intuition, with an appreciation for usability and good software design.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity, making decisions and taking ownership rather than relying on detailed specifications.
• Strong communication skills and an interest in working directly with enterprise customers.
• A genuine interest in AI and applying modern technology to difficult real-world problems.
• Willingness to work onsite in Shoreditch five days per week.
