The Opportunity

We're looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join our Financial Control team and help shape the future of financial reporting at Sizewell C.

This is a newly established role offering the chance to take ownership of working capital reporting and play a key role in delivering robust financial information that supports strategic decision making across a major infrastructure programme. Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, you'll work closely with teams across Finance including Tax, Treasury, Finance Business Partners and Financial Accounting Services.

This role would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of financial accounting, working capital management and inventory accounting, while also contributing to broader financial reporting, controls and process improvement initiatives.

Why Join Sizewell C as a Financial Accountant?

This is an opportunity to build deep expertise across key accounting areas within one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes.

You'll gain exposure to complex accounting matters, help shape new processes and controls, and work alongside experienced finance professionals in a collaborative environment. As the project continues to grow, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge across multiple finance disciplines while supporting a nationally important clean energy project.

You'll also benefit from a culture that encourages innovation, continuous improvement and professional development.

What You'll Be Doing

As Financial Accountant, you'll be responsible for:

  • Owning and developing working capital reporting, analysis and KPI monitoring
  • Leading month end working capital reporting, including variance analysis and management insights
  • Managing and controlling inventory accounting processes and records
  • Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving reconciling items
  • Supporting monthly reporting, statutory accounts and regulatory submissions
  • Providing technical accounting support, including IFRS assessments and accounting papers
  • Supporting internal and external audits
  • Developing and strengthening financial controls, policies and procedures
  • Contributing to finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working collaboratively with finance and business stakeholders across the project

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have strong hands on financial accounting experience within complex operational businesses.

You'll ideally have:

  • ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with up to 4 years' PQE
  • Strong financial accounting experience gained within manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, energy or similarly asset intensive industries
  • Proven experience of working capital accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Inventory
  • Hands on month end close experience
  • Strong understanding of Procure-to-Pay and Order-to-Cash processes
  • Excellent IFRS knowledge
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
  • Experience of the Regulatory Asset Base (RAB) model would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Degree in a related field is desirable, but not essential

Candidates from pure audit backgrounds are unlikely to be suitable for this role as we are looking for someone with practical commercial financial accounting experience and direct ownership of working capital accounting activities.
