Job Description

At UVeye, we're on a mission to redefine vehicle safety and reliability on a global scale. Founded in 2016, we pioneered the world's first fully automated suite of vehicle inspection systems. At the heart of this innovation lies our advanced AI-centric technology, representing the pinnacle of computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI within the automotive sector.

With over $380M in funding and strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Toyota, Amazon, General Motors, Volvo, and Hertz, our technology is utilized in manufacturing plants, dealerships, wholesale auctions, delivery fleets, seaports, and more. Our growing global team of 250+ employees is committed to creating a workplace that celebrates diversity, encourages teamwork, and strives for excellence.

Are you an electrically qualified field engineer with strong mechanical skills, someone who’d rather be leading an install on site than sitting behind a desk? Join our growing UK Operations team as a Field Service Engineer and take ownership of deploying UVeye’s AI-powered vehicle inspection systems at customer sites across the UK and Europe.

You’ll lead installations from first site survey to customer handover, direct third-party contractors as Lead FSE, and be the technical face of UVeye in the field. This role suits a qualified electrical and mechanical engineer who thrives on variety, solves problems fast, and takes pride in a safe, high-quality job well done.

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:

🔧 Own the install, start to finish

  • Lead new UVeye system installations end to end: site readiness, mechanical and electrical installation, testing, commissioning and customer handover
  • Act as Lead FSE on site, directing third-party contractors and making sure work is delivered safely, accurately, on schedule and to UVeye standards

📐 Get the site right before the first bolt goes in

  • Review site layouts and technical drawings, and assess readiness across power, electrical infrastructure, networking and civil works
  • Spot risks early and resolve them before they impact deployment

⚡ Solve problems in real time

  • Install, configure and validate UVeye hardware and supporting systems
  • Diagnose and fix electrical, mechanical, networking, hardware and software issues on the spot, owning them through to resolution or escalating when needed
  • Carry out preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance across live customer sites to keep systems running at peak performance

🦺 Lead with safety

  • Own site safety while leading work: identify hazards, follow site-specific requirements and RAMS, enforce correct PPE use, and stop or escalate unsafe work

🤝 Be UVeye’s face in the field

  • Serve as the primary on-site technical contact for customers: build trust, communicate progress clearly and manage expectations
  • Work closely with Operations, Support, Engineering and Customer Success to resolve issues and deliver successful deployments

📈 Make every deployment better than the last

  • Produce clear, accurate installation, commissioning and service documentation
  • Feed field insights back to internal teams to improve installation processes, system reliability and the customer experience

What you’ll bring:

  • 4+ years’ experience as a Field Service Engineer, Field Engineer or similar role, installing, commissioning and maintaining electro-mechanical systems
  • Proven hands-on mechanical and electrical experience, including electrical wiring, terminations, power distribution and mechanical assemblies
  • A recognised UK electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds 2365 and 18th Edition BS 7671) [confirm exact requirement]
  • Experience leading contractors or teams during technical installations, including coordinating civil works
  • Working knowledge of Linux-based systems and core networking principles
  • Ability to read and interpret site layouts and technical drawings (AutoCAD or similar)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and sound decision-making under pressure
  • Clear, confident communication with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders
  • A strong safety mindset and the confidence to challenge unsafe conditions
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe, plus a full UK driving licence

Nice to have:

  • HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Hands-on civil works experience (groundworks, ducting, foundations)
  • Experience in the automotive industry or with automotive equipment
  • Startup or fast-growth company experience
  • Scripting, advanced networking or advanced troubleshooting skills

Physical & Travel Requirements:

This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel to customer and installation sites across the UK and Europe. Weekly overnight travel is an essential requirement of the position, with the frequency and duration of travel varying based on customer, installation, and operational needs. The role may also require occasional work outside standard business hours depending on site or service requirements.

Work environments may include vehicle service areas, rental facilities, dealerships, manufacturing sites, warehouses, and other commercial or industrial locations. The role may involve extended periods of standing or walking, bending, reaching, and occasional manual handling, including lifting or carrying equipment and tools up to 40 kg. Employees are expected to follow applicable site safety requirements and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Reasonable adjustments may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
