Job Description

At UVeye, we're on a mission to redefine vehicle safety and reliability on a global scale. Founded in 2016, we pioneered the world's first fully automated suite of vehicle inspection systems. At the heart of this innovation lies our advanced AI-centric technology, representing the pinnacle of computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI within the automotive sector.

With over $380M in funding and strategic partnerships with industry giants such as Toyota, Amazon, General Motors, Volvo, and Hertz, our technology is utilized in manufacturing plants, dealerships, wholesale auctions, delivery fleets, seaports, and more. Our growing global team of 250+ employees is committed to creating a workplace that celebrates diversity, encourages teamwork, and strives for excellence.

Our UK Operations Team is growing, and we need a hands-on engineer to take our technology from installation plan to a live, working system on customer sites across the UK and Europe.

As our Lead Field Service Engineer on installations, you'll own the full deployment: you'll direct contractors, solve problems in real time, and be the face of UVeye on site. If you like being trusted with the whole job, from first site survey to customer handover, this role is built for you.

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:

  • You own the install, end to end - You take each new UVeye system from site readiness through installation, testing, commissioning and customer handover. When it goes live, it's your work.
  • You lead the site - As Lead FSE, you direct third-party contractors and keep the work safe, accurate, on schedule and to UVeye's standard.
  • You see problems before they happen - You review site layouts and drawings, and spot electrical, networking, civil works, or infrastructure issues before they can delay a deployment.
  • You make the technology work - You install, configure, test and validate UVeye hardware and supporting systems until every unit is fully operational.
  • You fix what others escalate - You troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, electrical and mechanical faults on the spot. You see each issue through to resolution, and you know when to bring in Engineering.
  • You keep our customers' sites running - You carry out preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance across our installed base, restoring systems quickly and with minimal disruption.
  • You set the safety standard - You identify hazards, enforce PPE and site rules, and stop or escalate unsafe work.
  • You're the customer's trusted contact - You communicate progress, manage expectations and build relationships that last beyond the install.
  • You make UVeye better - You partner with Operations, Support, Engineering and Customer Success. You document your work thoroughly and turn field insights into better processes and more reliable products.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years as a Field Service Engineer, Field Engineer, or Field Technician installing, commissioning, or maintaining hardware and software systems
  • Experience leading contractors or teams on technical installations
  • Hands-on skills across electrical wiring, networking, mechanical assembly, and civil works
  • Working knowledge of Linux and core networking principles
  • Ability to read site layouts and technical drawings (AutoCAD or similar)
  • Calm, structured troubleshooting and sound decisions under pressure
  • Clear technical writing for installation, service and maintenance reports
  • Confident communication with customers, contractors and internal teams, plus a strong customer service mindset
  • A safety-first approach and the confidence to raise and resolve concerns
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe (80% travel)
  • Full UK driving licence, right to work in the UK, and a valid passport

Nice to have

  • Qualified electrician (18th Edition BS 7671, NVQ Level 3 or JIB/ECS card) or equivalent electrical background
  • Degree or technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Site safety certification (e.g. CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS)
  • Experience in automotive, ANPR/CCTV, access control or similar site-installed systems
  • Scripting, advanced networking or advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Startup or scale-up experience

Physical & Travel Requirements:

This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel to customer and installation sites across the UK and Europe. Weekly overnight travel is an essential requirement of the position, with the frequency and duration of travel varying based on customer, installation, and operational needs. The role may also require occasional work outside standard business hours depending on site or service requirements.

Work environments may include vehicle service areas, rental facilities, dealerships, manufacturing sites, warehouses, and other commercial or industrial locations. The role may involve extended periods of standing or walking, bending, reaching, and occasional manual handling, including lifting or carrying equipment and tools up to 40 kg. Employees are expected to follow applicable site safety requirements and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Reasonable adjustments may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
