Job Description

You bring you. Together, we can right wrong.

The Opportunity

Celebrating more than 50 years of righting wrongs, Shine Lawyers continues its growth trajectory as a result of maintaining its competitive edge in our field. After successfully relocating almost 50 UK solicitors to Australia, Shine Lawyers is once again seeking UK talent, strengthening our technical excellence in our legal teams across Australia.

Shine's Class Actions practice is one of Australia's largest and most respected, with a proven track record of leading complex, high-profile class actions that have delivered justice and shaped outcomes across social justice, employment, consumer, environmental, securities, and financial services matters. As Class Actions is a strategic growth area for the firm, you'll join a practice expanding across Australia and internationally, working on significant emerging class actions from their earliest stages.

These appointments will also support Shine’s International Mass Torts growth strategy by strengthening the technical capability, leadership depth and litigation expertise needed to scale complex matters and support future growth in Australia and internationally.

Is it time for you to make a fresh start in Australia? If you are looking for an opportunity that includes sunshine, spectacular beaches, thriving capital cities, and a career in a leading Australian plaintiff litigation Class Actions law firm, we would like to hear from you.

As an experienced Commercial Litigation or Class Actions Solicitor, with a background in either Claimant or Defendant work, you’ll be on the frontline as we doggedly seek justice. Reporting to an experienced Practice Leader, you’ll work on a range of class action investigations and filed matters.

We’ll support you in your relocation to Australia, being by your side all the way, assisting you to navigate the visa process. We will also provide some financial support to you and your immediate family for relocation.

With compassion, connection and purpose, you’ll truly champion our clients by:
  • Providing legal advice and representation our clients need and deserve to obtain maximum compensation (under supervision initially, but we’ll support you to gain your Australian admission qualification).
  • Managing and prioritising tasks to ensure legal work is delivered accurately, on time and in accordance with Shine’s case management processes.
  • Drafting high-quality legal documents and leveraging e-discovery tools to support the efficient progression of class action matters.
  • Applying strong legal expertise and commercial judgement to support the successful management and delivery of complex litigation.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders including litigation funders through exceptional service, collaboration and support of junior team members.
What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you’ll have:
  • Significant post-admission experience in either complex commercial litigation or class actions litigation.
  • A strong understanding of, and ability to interpret relevant legislation and legal documentation.
  • An innate ability to question, challenge the status quo and always stay ahead of the pack.
  • A commitment to truly connect with those around you and work together to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
  • The passion, motivation and enthusiasm to contribute to our culture and ensure it’s a place where everyone can thrive.
