We’re currently looking for an Environment, Health & Safety Specialist in Preston, Victoria.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives that safeguard employees, protect the environment, and support the organization’s operational and sustainability objectives
- Driving policies and programs to meet compliance of safety and environmental legislation and standards
- Providing technical expertise, guidance and support to managers and employees
- Promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility
- Coordinating systems and procedures in accordance with ISO45001 and safety requirements of other certificates required at Preston site.
- Provide advice and counsel to Managers, facilitators and employees regarding safety management systems.
- Support Managers and relevant stakeholders in facilitating a return-to-work program for injured workers.
- Responsible for day-to-day safety on the site.
- Promote health, safety, and compliance by following safe work practices, protecting confidentiality and adhering to all company policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
- Maintain a system of ongoing risk assessments and associated OI updated.
- Ensure corrective action is initiated when required.
- Inform, maintain and complete all requirements regarding Workcover claims and WorkSafe matters.
- Investigate safety-related matters with a view to identifying areas of improvement.
- Lead or assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe working conditions.
- Actively report hazards, near miss and incidents when they occur.
- Assist WorkSafe and the company’s Work Cover insurers with any investigations relating to accidents, incidents and unsafe working conditions.
- Ensure adequate fire protection equipment, current validation of equipment and training of wardens is ongoing.
- Conduct and maintain the required environmental reporting, permits and records.
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, regulations and company policies.
- Lead or support environmental audits, inspections and improvement initiatives.
