Job Description
Teach English in China: Young Learner Teacher Positions, an Hour from Beijing
TEFL UK is recruiting 10 English teachers for Yingfu Education, the largest private English school in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei province. Start dates run from March to December 2027, with about one new teacher joining each month, so early applicants get the most choice of start date.
You’ll teach children 3 to 14 using the school’s own course books, at one of four schools in a city that’s just an hour from Beijing by high-speed train.
Benefits include:
- Monthly package: Up to RMB 22,000 net a month, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Flights: RMB 10,000 reimbursed towards your journey to China.
- Accommodation allowance: Rent your own apartment, with the school’s team helping you view and sign.
- Paid overtime: RMB 100 to 200 for each extra hour you teach.
- Legal Z work visa: Fully sponsored, with a visa team guiding you through every step.
- Health insurance: Commercial cover for serious illness and accidents.
- Free Cambridge TKT: The Teaching Knowledge Test, paid for by the school.
- 14 days’ holiday: Including time off over Christmas.
- Airport pick-up: Collected from Beijing and taken to Shijiazhuang by high-speed train.
Shijiazhuang is far cheaper to live in than Beijing or Shanghai, so a package at this level leaves real room to save and travel. Weekends in Beijing and at the Great Wall are easy day trips.
Your role
- Plan and teach lively lessons from the school’s own materials.
- Teach phonics, vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing.
- Teach Young Learners.
- Assess your students and report on their progress.
- Run speaking placement tests for new students.
- Take part in training workshops, meetings and school events.
- Work 20 teaching hours within a 40-hour week (26 teaching hours in July and August), Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off.
Requirements
These are the rules for a Chinese Z work visa in Hebei province, so every applicant must meet them:
- Fluent English speaker.
- A bachelor’s degree from a university.
- At least two years’ full-time work experience since graduating, in any field.
- A TEFL, TESOL or CELTA certificate.
- A clean criminal record check issued within the last six months (apostilled).
- Classroom experience is a plus, not a requirement. The school trains every new teacher before their first class.
A career change? This role suits people a few years into another career who are ready for something new. Your work experience counts towards the visa, whatever field it’s in.
Documents still in progress? Apply anyway. ACRO police certificates and FCDO apostilles can take a few weeks, so we’ll tell you exactly what to sort first and match your start date to when your documents are ready.
