Requirements
Candidates must be registered practitioners with the NMC or HCPC and have a desire to develop their clinical skills. Previous experience in an endoscopy unit is preferred, along with a passion for delivering excellent patient care.

This role is eligible for applications from individuals who require a Skilled Worker visa
This is a full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours per week, worked over 4 days within a 7-day period including some weekends. Standard shifts are from 07:30 to 17:30 with some flexibility required based on patient need.
As part of your training, it is advantageous to travel to other CHEC hospitals to enhance your training and development through exposure to different teams and practices. This will be done within the normal working day.

About The Role
Our Endoscopy Practitioners work collaboratively as a team, led by the Lead Endoscopy Practitioner and Hospital Manager, to ensure the best possible experience for all patients and their families.
At CHEC, Endoscopy Practitioners are involved throughout the entire patient pathway- from pre-admission to recovery and discharge - providing safe, high-quality care at every stage of the procedure.
We’re seeking skilled and committed practitioners who will support the safe and effective operation of the hospital, while contributing to CQC and JAG compliance and accreditation.
Following Your Training, As a Endoscopy Practitioner You Will
- Prepare clinical areas and equipment in line with daily clinical activities and infection control protocols.
- Participate in patient admissions, take baseline observations, and request sedation when competent.
- Assist the Endoscopist/Gastroenterologist in the procedure room by preparing instruments, supporting scope handling, ensuring optimal patient positioning, and maintaining patient safety and dignity throughout the procedure.
- Contribute to the team’s tasks to ensure that the endoscopy list flows smoothly and efficiently and according to CHEC’s standard operating procedures and other policies.
- Participate in CQC and JAG accreditation and continuing competency training requirements through the JETs framework.
- Provide direct assistance during procedures, anticipating the needs of the clinician and supporting patient monitoring, including during sedation.
- Monitor and respond to patient needs in the recovery area, ensuring safe and effective post-procedure care including observation of vital signs, managing recovery from sedation, and providing discharge instructions.
- To be a registered practitioner with the NMC or HCPC.
- Attention to detail and an eagerness and ability to learn.
- A desire to develop and expand your clinical skills through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Ideally previous experience working in an endoscopy unit, including both procedure room and recovery area responsibilities.
- A passion for delivering excellent patient care and contributing to a positive working environment.
- The ability to remain calm, focused, and responsive in a fast-paced, patient-centred environment.
- A proactive, flexible approach to teamwork and an eagerness to support service improvement initiatives.
- Confidence in assisting with conscious sedation and the post-procedure monitoring of patients recovering from sedation.
