Requirements

Candidates must hold GMC registration and have significant experience in Emergency Medicine or be currently in UK training. Doctors trained outside the UK must have significant ED experience and have completed PLAB 2 to be eligible for the Competent Authority Pathway.

Job Description

A number of hospitals across Australia are currently seeking Emergency Medicine Registrars to join their Emergency Departments.

We are currently recruiting for a major metropolitan city hospital as well as several well-supported regional hospitals, offering a range of clinical environments and training exposure.

These roles are particularly suited to UK doctors currently in Emergency Medicine training or doctors looking to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine while gaining valuable international experience.

Australian Emergency Departments are well known for their structured training environments, strong consultant supervision, and broad clinical exposure. Doctors will work within multidisciplinary teams managing a wide variety of emergency presentations including trauma, acute medical cases, paediatrics, and resuscitation cases. Depending on the hospital, there may also be opportunities to gain exposure to critical care, retrieval medicine, and procedural skills development.

Working in Australia offers an excellent lifestyle balance, with competitive remuneration, modern healthcare facilities, and the opportunity to experience a diverse healthcare system. Many hospitals also offer strong teaching environments, supportive teams, and exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations that can be highly valuable for doctors progressing in Emergency Medicine training.

Requirements:

  • GMC registration
  • Currently working in Emergency Medicine training in the UK, or doctors with substantial Emergency Department experience
  • Doctors trained outside the UK may still be considered if they have significant ED experience and have successfully completed PLAB 2, allowing eligibility for the Competent Authority Pathway
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary emergency department setting

These opportunities are open to doctors who are motivated to develop their Emergency Medicine skills while experiencing life and work in Australia.
