Job Description
Embedded Electronics Design Engineer – Space Applications
Location: Buckinghamshire, UK
Employment Type: Permanent | Full-Time

Design Electronics for the Next Generation of Space Missions
Xperior Global is partnering with an established and innovative space technology company seeking an experienced Embedded Electronics Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team in Westcott, Buckinghamshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of advanced electronic systems for real spaceflight applications, including European Space Agency (ESA) programmes, deep-space exploration, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) missions and scientific research.
You will work on technologies ranging from power processing and distribution systems to motor controllers, precision mechanisms and spacecraft electronics.
We are particularly interested in engineers with a strong background in electronic hardware design, PCB development, power electronics and embedded control systems, rather than purely software-focused profiles.
The Role
As an Embedded Electronics Design Engineer, you will be involved throughout the electronics development lifecycle, from initial concepts and prototyping through to testing, qualification and flight-ready hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test embedded electronic systems for space applications.
- Develop electronic circuits, schematics and PCB layouts.
- Design power supplies, DC-DC converters, microcontroller-based electronics and motor drive systems.
- Perform circuit analysis, simulation and component selection.
- Support the development of power processing, distribution and conditioning units.
- Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, systems and manufacturing engineers.
- Conduct hands-on prototyping, hardware testing, troubleshooting and debugging.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing (MAIT) activities.
- Contribute to engineering documentation and design reviews.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in embedded electronics or electronic hardware development.
- Strong understanding of electronic circuit design and PCB development.
- Experience with microcontroller-based control electronics.
- Knowledge of DC-DC converter topologies and power electronics.
- Experience with motor drive or actuator control electronics.
- Proficiency with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer or equivalent.
- Practical experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters and other electronic test equipment.
- Hands-on experience with hardware assembly, soldering, testing and fault-finding.
- Familiarity with engineering standards such as IPC, ECSS, ESCC or IEC.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Candidates from space, aerospace, defence, automotive, industrial automation and other high-reliability engineering sectors are encouraged to apply.
Desirable Experience
- Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Space Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience developing electronic hardware for spaceflight applications.
- Full product development lifecycle experience, including flight-ready electronics.
- Experience using LTspice or similar circuit simulation tools.
- Understanding of radiation effects on electronic components and associated mitigation techniques.
- Experience working with high-reliability or safety-critical electronics.
- More than five years of relevant electronics engineering experience.
Visa sponsorship may be available for candidates who do not currently have the right to work in the UK.
