Job Description

The Role

Do you have the dietetic clinical and operational leadership skills to support this opportunity of a fixed-term Advanced Practitioner post in the Major Burns Unit within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Adult Acute Services?

Glasgow Royal Infirmary hosts the Scottish Major Burns Unit, and this post has been funded by National Services as part of the team supporting major burns patients. As an Advanced Practitioner, you will lead the planning, development, and delivery of evidence-based nutritional care for National Adult Major Burns patients from across Scotland.

You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team in Plastic Surgery, as well as the Surgical & Critical Care Dietetic and Nutrition Teams based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Fixed Term for 12 months, Part-time 7.2 hours per week

Shift pattern - 8 am-4 pm

Base location - Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Please note that the salary is Pro Rata for part-time posts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist dietetic support for major burns patients with highly complex nutritional needs.
  • Demonstrate clinical and operational leadership within the Major Burns Unit.
  • Lead the planning, development and delivery of evidence-based nutritional care.
  • Manage and support the nutritional care of patients from across Scotland.
  • Support safe and appropriate discharge planning and transfer of care to other Health Boards.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including Plastic Surgery, Surgical and Critical Care services.
  • Contribute to service development and leadership within the dietetic team.
  • Act as one of two Advanced Practitioners within the service.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • BSc (Hons) in Human Nutrition & Dietetics
  • HCPC Registration
  • Previous experience at Band 6 or Band 7 level.
  • Evidence of effective interprofessional team working.
  • Advanced dietetic clinical skills.
  • Operational leadership experience.
  • Ability to manage highly complex patient caseloads.
  • Experience in planning and delivering evidence-based nutritional interventions.
