Deputy Data Protection Officer

Deputy Data Protection Officer | Remote (1 day per month in the office) | UK

Robert Half is partnering with a well-known national organisation to recruit a Deputy Data Protection Officer. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in shaping and maintaining a robust data protection framework while working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.

The Role

You'll support and deputise for the Data Protection Officer, providing expert advice on data protection and information rights matters. You'll help embed privacy by design, manage compliance processes, support breach investigations, and ensure the organisation continues to meet its statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the handling of information rights requests and related enquiries.
• Provide practical data protection advice to stakeholders across the organisation.
• Support data breach management and incident investigations.
• Review and advise on DPIAs, privacy risk assessments, data sharing agreements, and processing activities.
• Maintain compliance records, retention schedules, and data protection policies.
• Deliver guidance, awareness, and training initiatives to promote a strong data protection culture.

What We're Looking For

• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, DPA, PECR, and related legislation.
• Experience providing privacy and data protection advice in a compliance-focused environment.
• Previous involvement in managing DSARs and information rights requests.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Data protection certifications would be advantageous.
