Job Description

About us

Rivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO2 locked underground.

We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off-grid DC solar and the European gas-grid. We’ve recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and are planning to 1000x this scale in the next 2 years.

You take our sites from design through construction and commissioning to a working asset exporting gas to the grid, on programme and on budget. You start with Rivan's first commercial project and move quickly to 50 MW and 100 MW sites, each deployed faster than the last. You lead the project engineers, construction and commissioning teams, own the critical path, and run the relationships that keep the programme moving.

The role

  • Navigate the project from site design through construction and commissioning to a working asset exporting gas to the grid.
  • Collect and manage all project requirements, from the gas network, planning conditions, lenders, offtaker and our own systems, and hold the team and contractors to them.
  • Own the programme and its critical path. Know what is on it, protect it and pull it forward.
  • Own the budget and risk register and act early when either moves.
  • Integrate the site engineering packages with the Rivan systems delivered by our R&D and Manufacturing teams.
  • Run the relationships that drive the programme, including the gas network, landowners, planning and highway authorities, suppliers and lenders' advisers.
  • Prepare the gate decision packs and the handover to operations.
  • Work from the factory HQ and be on site most weeks once construction starts.
  • Capture learnings from every project into the project delivery framework so the next site deploys faster.

Core skills

  • You have delivered a large, complex project end to end, ideally a process plant or energy project, and know what it takes to get from drawings to a working asset.
  • You have an engineering background and read structural, electrical and process drawings well enough to ask the right questions where you're not the expert.
  • You reason from first principles. When told that's how it's always done, you work out the real requirement and whether there is a better way.
  • You are commercially sharp. You have reasoned a price down on evidence and kept scopes tight to avoid creep.
  • You align incentives so external parties stay on our timeline and budget.
  • You run design, procurement, construction, commissioning and stakeholder workstreams at the same time and keep each moving against the critical path without losing the detail.
  • You stay calm under pressure and write clearly.
  • Experience in both the UK and Europe is valuable.

Specifics

  • £75 - 100k Salary depending on experience
  • Share options as part of the early team
  • Extensive relocation support, including £6000 per year extra to live close to our HQ
  • In-person work at our HQ in Bermondsey, South-East London – flexibility considered based on personal circumstances
  • Private health insurance
  • Visa sponsorship available
  • Unlimited time off

We encourage exceptional applicants from all backgrounds to apply for this role, even if they do not meet all the requirements listed.
