Overview
Our client is an established international insurance organisation seeking a Data Manager to join its Data and Analytics function.
The role will partner with a defined business area to translate strategic priorities into a clear, governed data delivery roadmap. The successful candidate will oversee demand, delivery progress, risks, dependencies and adoption, ensuring data, analytics and artificial intelligence initiatives deliver measurable business value.
This position includes responsibility for leading analysts and data professionals, managing delivery across operational and change activity, and supporting the responsible adoption of data and AI solutions within a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
• Act as the primary Data and Analytics partner for an assigned business area.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and maintain a clear understanding of business priorities, demand and challenges.
• Own the intake, assessment and shaping of data and analytics requirements.
• Translate business needs into clear, actionable delivery priorities and roadmaps.
• Manage and prioritise the data delivery backlog across operational and change activity.
• Maintain oversight of capacity, sequencing, dependencies, risks and delivery trade-offs.
• Ensure solutions and processes are robust, scalable and sustainable.
• Apply agreed delivery standards, governance requirements, templates and ways of working.
• Work with data quality specialists and subject-matter experts to identify and resolve material data issues.
• Lead analysts and data professionals by setting objectives, allocating work and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
• Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, mentoring and performance discussions.
• Ensure delivery aligns with audit, risk and control requirements.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and escalate issues in line with governance procedures.
• Define, monitor and report performance measures that demonstrate the value of data products and initiatives.
• Provide clear updates on delivery progress, risks, issues and dependencies.
• Support resource and capacity planning across multiple business areas.
• Promote the adoption of analytics, insight and AI solutions in partnership with business change colleagues.
• Maintain oversight of planned and delivered AI and advanced analytics use cases.
• Support stakeholders in understanding responsible AI, governance, control and audit requirements.
Requirements
• Experience supporting the delivery of data, analytics or technology initiatives within a complex organisation.
• Experience leading or supervising analysts or delivery team members.
• Proven ability to coach colleagues and support capability development.
• Ability to translate business needs into clear data and analytics requirements.
• Experience working within agile, product-led or value-stream delivery environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-management skills.
• Sound understanding of data, analytics and AI concepts.
• Awareness of governance, risk and control considerations relating to data and AI.
• Strong planning, prioritisation and delivery-management skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical delivery progress and outcomes to non-technical audiences.
• The right to work in the UK. Sponsorship may be considered at our client’s discretion.
Desirable
• Experience working within financial services or another regulated environment.
• Exposure to data governance, data quality, lineage or metadata management.
• Experience supporting business intelligence tools, data warehouses or cloud data platforms.
• Experience measuring benefits realisation and delivery success.
• Experience working across multiple delivery teams or business areas.
• Experience supporting learning, development or career progression for analysts.
• An interest in emerging analytics and AI capabilities and their responsible business application.

• 30 days’ annual leave, with the option to purchase up to two additional days.
• Flexible working options, which may include part-time hours, job sharing and compressed hours.
• Employer pension contributions equal to 10% of basic salary.
