About the role

GB News is looking for an experienced and driven Consumer and Money Editor to lead our consumer and personal finance coverage across digital, television and social platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished journalist to shape our consumer and money agenda, break exclusive stories and deliver insightful, accessible journalism on the financial issues affecting people across the UK.

From the cost of living and banking to mortgages, savings, pensions and consumer affairs, you will oversee the section's editorial direction, producing compelling content that informs and engages our audiences.

As a multi-platform role, you will combine strong editorial leadership with confident on-screen presenting, contributing to our website, app, television output, video podcasts, YouTube and social channels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop GB News' consumer and personal finance editorial agenda across a seven-day digital operation.
• Oversee the consumer and money section, setting editorial priorities and commissioning coverage across platforms.
• Identify and break exclusive stories, delivering accurate and timely reporting on consumer and financial matters.
• Secure and conduct interviews, producing compelling explainers and insightful analysis.
• Write, edit and publish engaging, high-quality content for digital and social platforms.
• Translate complex financial developments into clear, accessible journalism for a broad audience.
• Present consumer and money stories confidently on television, video podcasts and other digital formats.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, regulators, consumer organisations and industry contacts.
• Ensure all editorial content complies with relevant legal, regulatory and editorial standards.

About you

We are looking for an experienced journalist with a strong background in consumer affairs or personal finance reporting, excellent editorial judgement and the ability to deliver impactful journalism across multiple platforms.

You will bring:

• Substantial experience in consumer, money or personal finance journalism within a national newsroom.
• A proven track record of breaking exclusive stories and driving editorial coverage.
• Strong writing, editing and analytical skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial subjects.
• Confidence and experience presenting or reporting on television and digital video.
• An established network of contacts across the financial services sector, regulatory bodies and consumer organisations.
• A sound understanding of media law, Ofcom regulations and IPSO standards.
• Excellent news judgement and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced newsroom.
