Are you a consultant histopathologist who wants to keep the diagnostic skills you've built, but step away from NHS backlogs, targets and on-call rotas? Or a senior registrar approaching CCT who wants to start your consultant career somewhere different?

We're working exclusively with an established, growing, privately owned life sciences company to appoint a Cellular Pathologist to its precision medicine diagnostics team in Northern Ireland. This is a chance to apply your histopathology expertise at the leading edge of personalised medicine, helping develop biomarker tests that support new cancer treatments worldwide.

The organisation

Our client is a privately owned life sciences organisation with a global footprint, serving pharmaceutical and biotech companies around the world. Its diagnostics business is an established precision medicine provider. It develops, validates and delivers the biomarker tests and companion diagnostics used in clinical trials, and runs state-of-the-art laboratories accredited to UKAS, CAP and CLIA standards. It is growing steadily and reinvests its profits in its people, laboratories and technology.

The role

You'll join a small, highly regarded team of pathologists working with scientists and medical colleagues. You'll report to the VP of Clinical Testing. Your work will include:

• Detailed histopathological examination of tissue samples, with clear, high-quality reports.
• Supporting the development, validation and delivery of new personalised-medicine biomarker assays for pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
• Reviewing immunohistochemistry (IHC) and other biomarker work across a broad range of organ sites, much of it in oncology.
• Contributing pathology expertise to clinical trial projects and helping shape how new assays are designed and run.
• Taking part in clinical research, with real opportunities to publish.
• Working with scientists, project teams and clients in an industry setting.

The package

• Salary £120,000, depending on experience (room to negotiate based on experience)

What you'll need

• A medical degree (MB BCh or equivalent), with full GMC registration and a licence to practise.
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Histopathology, or due to join it before your start date.
• A CCT (or equivalent) in histopathology, already held or expected soon.
• FRCPath or equivalent.
• Broad experience of histopathological diagnosis across a range of organ sites.
• UK or Ireland experience is welcome but not essential. We'd like to hear from internationally trained pathologists who are on the GMC Specialist Register.
