Commissioning Officer

How you'll make a difference

As a Children’s Commissioning Officer, you will help plan, develop and commission services that meet the needs of children, young people, and families across South Gloucestershire. Working collaboratively with partners, providers and stakeholders, you will support the delivery and continuous improvement of education, health, care, and support services, helping to ensure positive outcomes and best value.

We have opportunities available in two specialist areas:

Housing Related Support (HRS) and Young Carers Commissioning: You will lead on the commissioning of HRS services, including care-experienced and unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people, and our service to help identify and support young carers.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Commissioning: You will be assessing and understanding population-level needs of children, young people, and families with SEND, to inform commissioning decisions and ensure high quality services and support are in place.

What you will be doing

• You will help plan, design and commission services that improve outcomes for children, young people and their families.
• Using your expertise, you will monitor, review and evaluate commissioned services, ensuring they deliver high-quality support, achieve intended outcomes and provide value for money. 
• Working closely with a wide range of partners, you will support the delivery of strategic priorities, drive service improvement and help ensure the quality and effectiveness of provision.

What we need from you

• It is essential you have knowledge and experience of working within an organisation that commissions or provides education, social care, or health services.
• You will demonstrate strong analytical and creative thinking skills, using data, insight, and innovative approaches to identify solutions and secure the best outcomes for children and young people.
• We require you to be highly organised, with a proven ability to meet service standards and deadlines, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing demands.
• Drawing on your interpersonal and communication skills, you will build and maintain positive and productive relationships with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders.

What you need to know

• There are two full-time vacancies available.
• Both roles are based within the Children’s Commissioning team, please state on your application which role you are applying for.
• This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Yate and working from home.

 

  Interviews are likely to held on 30^th September and 1^st October.
