About ARU

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

About The Role

The School of Medicine, established in 2018, has successfully graduated four cohorts of doctors and continues to grow. Clinical skills teaching is a core component of our undergraduate MBChB curriculum, equipping students with the practical, communication and clinical examination skills required to become safe and competent doctors. The Clinical Skills and OSCE Lead is responsible for the design, delivery and continuous development of the clinical skills programme across the five-year undergraduate curriculum. The role also leads the design, delivery and quality assurance of the School's clinical assessments (OSCEs), whilst ensuring compliance with General Medical Council (GMC) regulatory requirements.

With an MBChB or equivalent and registration with the GMC or other healthcare regulatory body, you will have a history of successful teaching experience at higher education level, and ideally experience in curriculum design and in assessments, as well as an understanding of the requirements of Medical Licencing Assessment (MLA).

Informal enquiries can be made to Lizzy Tuckwell at lizzy.tuckwell@aru.ac.uk or on +44 (0)1245 493131.
