Job Description

Clinical Lead GP | Minehead Medical Centre | Permanent, Full-time (40) or Part-time (Minimum 3 Days/30 Hours)

Are you an experienced GP with a passion for clinical leadership, service improvement and developing high-performing primary care teams?

At Minehead Medical Centre, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Clinical Lead GP to work in partnership with the Business Manager and wider OneMedical Group team to help shape the future of this long-established and valued local service.

This is an exciting opportunity for a GP who wants to combine high-quality patient care with visible clinical leadership, supporting the practice through its next stage of development and playing a key role in its improvement journey.

As Clinical Lead GP, you will provide clinical leadership across the practice, supporting our multidisciplinary team, strengthening clinical governance and helping to develop a sustainable, resilient and patient-centred model of care.

Rated ‘Good’ by the CQC, the practice continues to invest in our people, our services and the local community and is focused on continuous improvement and service development.

Based in the coastal town of Minehead, Somerset, close to Exmoor National Park and within easy reach of Bristol and Taunton, Minehead Medical serves a patient list of approximately 10,000 and is supported by a friendly team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, where you could:

  • Make a meaningful difference and develop lasting relationships with patients and the local community.
  • Work within a close-knit practice while benefiting from the resources, expertise and career opportunities of a wider healthcare organisation.
  • Become part of an exciting period of holistic improvement and transformation.

Why OneMedical Group?

For over 20 years, OneMedical Group has been redefining how healthcare is delivered in the UK. As a leading independent, family-run healthcare organisation, we provide NHS services at scale and design, build and manage the spaces where care happens bringing everything together under one roof. We are proud to be the only organisation in the UK to do this.

We believe the best places to work are created by people who genuinely love what they do and celebrate each other's success. At OneMedical Group, our culture is defined by a rare combination of national ambition and genuine family heart. Founded by a father and daughter who believed healthcare could be delivered with greater empathy and agility, we have built a workplace rooted in trust, empowerment, and open doors. Above all, we are united by a shared purpose: creating spaces and delivering services that make a lasting, positive difference to the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

When you join Minehead Medical Centre, you will enjoy working in a friendly, close-knit local team, backed by the stability, resources, and career progression of a modern healthcare leader.

Your Role & Responsibilities

As Clinical Lead GP, you will divide your time between clinical delivery, clinical leadership and service development.

Working closely with the Business Manager and supported by colleagues across One Medical Group, you will provide visible and approachable clinical leadership across the practice and help drive improvements in quality, safety, governance and patient care.

You will also act as the practice's CQC Registered Manager, taking an active role in ensuring the service meets its regulatory and clinical governance responsibilities.

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Clinical Leadership: Providing visible leadership, guidance and mentorship across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Quality & Governance: Acting as CQC Registered Manager and maintaining high standards of clinical governance, safety and compliance.
  • Team Development: Supporting the recruitment, development and retention of clinical colleagues and promoting a culture of learning.
  • Practice Improvement: Working with the Business Manager to drive service improvement and develop a sustainable primary care model.
  • Clinical Delivery: Delivering high-quality planned and urgent primary care with a focus on continuity and compassionate patient care.
  • Driving Excellence: Leading clinical meetings and supporting quality improvement, QOF, medicines management and service development.

What We Are Looking For

  • Registration: GMC Registered General Practitioner, on the GP Specialty Register, and on the Performers List.
  • Experience: Significant experience working as a GP, with a genuine interest in clinical leadership and service improvement, as well as experience of, or a strong interest in, clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across a multidisciplinary team.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to mentor, support and develop colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills and a high level of clinical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong digital and clinical system literacy.
  • A positive approach to change and service transformation.
  • A commitment to the values and vision of OneMedical Group.

Most importantly, you will be someone who wants to make a genuine difference – to patients, to colleagues and to the future of primary care at Minehead Medical Centre.

What We Offer
