Job Description
Spectrum Search is partnered with a well-backed AI software company seeking a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO on strategic, operational and commercial priorities. This is a senior, hands-on position with broad exposure across the organisation and significant responsibility for solving complex problems as the business scales.
About the opportunity
The company is an early-stage AI software business working with established enterprise customers. As the organisation grows, it is strengthening the processes, reporting and operating structures required to scale effectively.
The Chief of Staff will operate across strategy and operations, working closely with senior leadership and taking ownership of high-priority initiatives that sit across traditional functional boundaries.
The role
This role is suited to someone with a strong background in management consulting, investment banking, strategy and operations, or an early-stage technology company.
The successful candidate will combine analytical depth with strong commercial judgement and the ability to move between detailed operational work and senior-level communication. They will also represent the CEO in selected customer, investor and internal leadership settings.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and resolve high-priority business bottlenecks across commercial, operational and product-related areas
- Build and improve financial, operational and go-to-market metrics, reporting and decision-making processes
- Support hiring strategy, headcount planning and improvements to recruitment processes
- Develop repeatable operating processes that support the company through its next stage of growth
- Lead strategic and cross-functional projects on behalf of the CEO
- Analyse complex business problems and translate findings into clear recommendations and actions
- Support senior customer and investor interactions where appropriate
- Work closely with leadership across the organisation to improve execution and operating effectiveness
- Travel to customer locations as required
Essential requirements
- Strong professional experience in management consulting, investment banking, strategy and operations, or a scaling technology company
- Evidence of progression and increasing responsibility in previous roles
- Excellent analytical capability, including confidence working with financial and operational data
- Strong strategic problem-solving skills and the ability to structure ambiguous business challenges
- Commercial judgement and the confidence to operate effectively with senior executives, customers and other stakeholders
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to take ownership of important cross-functional projects from problem definition through to execution
- Willingness and ability to work on-site in London five days per week
- Ability to travel internationally and to customer locations for approximately 25 to 50 per cent of the role
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building or operating within an early-stage or growth-stage technology business
- Previous founder or entrepreneurial experience
- Experience working within AI, enterprise software or software-as-a-service environments
- Strong technical or quantitative foundation
Location and remote setup
This is a full-time, on-site position based in London, UK, with five days per week in the office. The role requires approximately 25 to 50 per cent travel, including visits to customer sites across Europe and the US. Visa sponsorship and relocation support are available.

About Spectrum Search
Spectrum Search is the trusted talent partner in digital assets and AI — an executive search firm built by practitioners, not generalists. We partner with companies and investors on senior and executive hires across two industries we know from the inside. On one side: exchanges, OTC desks, custodians, market-makers and protocol foundations. On the other: AI labs, applied-AI businesses, and the frontier-compute teams powering them. Most search firms treat digital assets and AI as adjacent verticals to a generalist technology practice. The partners running those practices have rarely sat inside a market-making desk, a protocol foundation or a model lab. The cost is felt at the shortlist stage — where candidates get assessed on surface signals rather than on the technical and commercial judgement these roles actually require. Spectrum operates from inside the work. The specialist who takes the brief is the same person who runs the shortlist. Sector judgement is non-negotiable. Our networks are mapped at the level of named operators in named niches — not at the level of titles on a CV database. When a client engages us, the first conversation is about what good looks like in their specific corner of the market. The shortlist follows from there. Coverage is delivered through depth, not footprint. The firm is registered in the United Kingdom and the partners are based here. Our briefs are global — in any given quarter we are working across Europe, North America, the Gulf and Asia. If a senior or executive hire is on your roadmap, we'd welcome a quiet first conversation.
