What The Day Will Look Like
As a Junior Broker within the EMEA and UK Wholesale Cyber team, you will support the placement of large, complex risks into the London market.
Working alongside a Senior Broker or Director, and in partnership with Aon colleagues across the EMEA and UK network, you will contribute to the development of placement strategies and the marketing and negotiation of business within the Lloyd’s and company markets.
You will gain experience across the full lifecycle of a placement, developing a detailed understanding of the documentation, processes and systems involved in placing open market business.

This role offers an opportunity to build a career within the London insurance market while gaining exposure to complex cyber risks across the EMEA and UK regions.
You will work closely with experienced brokers, underwriters and Aon network colleagues, developing your understanding of the complete placement lifecycle. The role provides practical experience of market engagement, client support, insurance programme design, documentation and placement systems.
You will be encouraged to take increasing ownership of activities as your experience and technical knowledge develop, while continuing to receive guidance and support from senior colleagues.

Discovery and pre-renewal strategy
- Supporting the preparation of client work-up documentation.
- Engaging with Aon network colleagues in relation to prospective and renewing business.
- Attending internal pre-renewal strategy meetings.
- Providing content and information for client and market presentations.
- Attending client discovery and pre-renewal meetings with senior colleagues.
- Taking clear meeting notes and recording agreed actions.
- Contacting insurers to establish appetite and available capacity.
- Creating and maintaining market and capacity tracking documents.
- Supporting the arrangement of non-disclosure agreements with underwriters and maintaining the relevant tracker.
- Requesting and collating questions or discussion topics for submissions and underwriting calls.
- Reviewing submission materials before they are issued to insurers.
- Coordinating meeting arrangements, including meeting rooms and Microsoft Teams invitations.
- Preparing and maintaining market attendance records.
- Supporting the team to ensure information is complete, accurate and ready for presentation to the market.
- Attending underwriting calls alongside senior brokers.
- Taking comprehensive notes and recording outstanding questions and actions.
- Collating questions that were not answered during underwriting discussions.
- Requesting additional questions and feedback from insurers following calls.
- Creating and maintaining question and answer documentation for Aon network colleagues.
- Developing effective working relationships with underwriters and other market contacts.
- Supporting discussions with clients and network colleagues to understand coverage requirements.
- Creating and maintaining coverage matrices.
- Sharing coverage requirements with potential primary insurers.
- Requesting primary terms from the market.
- Preparing quote comparison documents.
- Supporting the presentation of initial primary terms to clients and network colleagues.
- Assisting senior brokers with the negotiation of policy wording, amendments and endorsements.
- Creating clear summaries of primary terms.
- Communicating agreed instructions to primary insurers.
- Providing excess markets with the agreed primary terms and policy wording.
- Supporting the negotiation of terms across individual excess layers.
- Preparing information for the presentation of excess layer terms to clients and network colleagues.
- Distributing relevant terms and quotations to insurers.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date market tracking information.
- Supporting the preparation and presentation of the final insurance programme to the client or Aon network colleague.
- Obtaining and accurately recording client or network instructions.
- Communicating binding instructions to insurers.
- Issuing confirmation of cover to clients and network colleagues.
- Overseeing the preparation of slips within Brokasure.
- Ensuring critical documents are recorded within the relevant document management system.
- Loading placement documentation onto the Placing Platform Limited platform.
- Coordinating with offshore colleagues in relation to invoicing.
- Responding to placement, administration and credit control queries.
- Ensuring placement records and documentation are complete, accurate and maintained throughout the process.
- Working in accordance with Aon’s established policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

- Good attention to detail, particularly when preparing documentation and maintaining placement records.
- A willingness to learn about cyber insurance, policy coverage and the London insurance market.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
- An interest in developing negotiation and market engagement skills.
- Previous experience within insurance, financial services or a professional services environment would be helpful but is not essential.
- Additional language skills would be advantageous but are not required.
