Bank Healthcare Assistant - CYP | Surgical | Outpatients | Bank | Spire Shawfair Park Hospital, Edinburgh

Spire Shawfair Park Hospital is recruiting for a Bank Healthcare Assistant to help with our paediatric day case clinic on the 1st weekend of each month. You will provide direct and indirect care for patients and their families supported by the Registered Nurses.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Promote family centred care for paediatric patients.
  •  Assess the health and well being needs of people whose needs are relatively stable and consistent. 
  • Establish and maintain communication with children and their families throughout their hospital journey including outpatient clinics.
  • Develop own and others’ personal development. 
  • Monitor and maintain health and safety and security for self and others.
  • Contribute to the implementation of services.
  • Ensure own actions promote quality.
  • Promote people’s equality, diversity and rights.
  • Understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.

Who we're looking for

  • BTEC certificate in health & Social Care Or NVQ 2/3  health care or equivalent 
  • Childcare qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working with children in a hospital or community setting 
  • Experience of planning work and acting under own initiative 
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong communication skills
  • Committed to working with children and their families 
  • Flexible and adaptable 
  • Team working

Working Hours: 0 - 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Bank
