Job Summary

This is a key strategic and operational role ensuring site integrity is maintained in relation to both capacity management and quality and safety. The post holder will be required to work across all

Clinical Delivery Groups to oversee improvement projects where themes are identified as affecting patient care within the hospital site. The post holder will provide visible leadership and ensure the delivery of agreed objectives and plans.

The post holder will work in partnership with Clinical Delivery Group and Hospital Teams to achieve all relevant local and national targets and standards working within the Trust's

governance, safety, quality, performance and risk framework and the current regulatory framework. The post holder will be expected to contribute to and lead the formulation,

implementation and evaluation of a wide range of national and local initiatives related to patient flow.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Performance

  • To ensure delivery of the National patient access standard in ED.
  • To participate in Red to Green and Safer processes for the site and/or other initiatives that improve patient flow and discharge across all divisional areas.
  • To have operational and professional line management responsibilities for the clinical site management team.
  • To work with Lead Nurse colleagues across all hospital sites to ensure that activity and capacity is fairly balanced in conjunction with patient requirements.
  • In conjunction with Divisional teams, ensure that the staffing provision is matched to need and staff deployment is consistent with Divisional plans.
  • To be the first point of contact in regard to capacity and flow issues that arise and take any potentially contentious and sensitive operational decisions that are required.
  • To support others in ensuring that operational performance is effectively managed across the Trust in relation to stranded patients, reduction in LOS and reduction in delayed discharges.
  • Central to this process will be complex analysis of data and assessing performance against national and local performance benchmarks.
  • The post holder will support the monitoring performance and where performance is below target identify and participate or lead on plans to address this.

  • Extensive knowledge of preventing harm agenda , quality assurance and professional standards and improvement agenda associated with secondary care provision, acquired through post - graduate qualification or equivalent experience or training (E)
  • Experience in developing and implementing governance / safety frameworks to support service and quality delivery , improvement and sustainability including learning from

incidents or quality assurance audits/ patient and carer feedback and National policy ( E )

  • Significant senior nursing management experience within a multidisciplinary environment across healthcare sectors including local service / community and health and social care partners who are associated the speciality (E )
  • Experience in use of data for continuous quality improvement and outcome monitoring and assurance (E )
  • Experience of leading and delivering complex change and strategy development programmes in a politically sensitive and complex NHS environment(E)
  • Experienced and successful project manager who can demonstrate sustainable service or quality improvement achievement's in current or previous roles relative to the post applied for ( E )
