As Assistant HSE Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping and strengthening ABB's health, safety, and environmental culture across the Stonehouse site. Working closely with the HSE Manager, you'll support the delivery of the site HSE strategy, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and provide expert guidance to leaders and employees across the business. This role has been identified as part of our succession planning strategy, offering a unique opportunity to work alongside the current HSE Manager ahead of their planned retirement in approximately two years' time. With mentoring, support, and exposure to all aspects of site HSE leadership, this position is ideally suited to an experienced HSE professional looking to take the next step in their career and prepare for future leadership responsibilities.

Your Role And Responsibilities
In this role, you'll help drive ABB's commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence by supporting continuous improvement and fostering a positive safety culture across the site.
- Support the HSE Manager in delivering the site HSE strategy in line with the ABB Way.
- Assist line managers and supervisors in understanding their HSE responsibilities, legal obligations, and requirements for effective role fulfilment in accordance with local legislation and ABB standards.
- Ensure HSE capabilities are maintained and aligned with company standards, processes, guidelines, and best practices.
- Support the provision and effective use of HSE-related equipment, tools, and resources across the site.
- Oversee HSE risk assessments conducted by line management and ensure appropriate preventive and corrective measures are implemented.
- Ensure HSE incidents, near misses, and observations are reported to management and relevant stakeholders, with appropriate actions followed through to completion.
- Drive positive behavioural change through the implementation of ABB group-wide and business-specific HSE improvement programmes and initiatives.
- Promote and embed a strong health, safety, and environmental culture throughout the organisation.
- Lead and support HSE-related learning, awareness, and development activities to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen HSE performance and share best practice.
Qualifications For The Role
- NEBOSH qualification is essential.
- Proven experience in a Health, Safety and Environmental role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of HSE legislation, compliance requirements, and risk management principles.
- Experience managing, conducting, and controlling HSE audits is essential.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build commitment at all levels.
- Experience coaching, supporting, and advising leaders and line managers on HSE matters.
- Proven ability to guide, motivate, and develop stakeholders, including direct and indirect reports, to support the successful implementation of HSE policies, standards, and programmes.
- Collaborative and proactive approach, with a passion for driving continuous improvement and a positive safety culture.
- Ambition to develop professionally and progress into broader HSE leadership responsibilities over time.
