Job Description
Advanced Social Work Practitioners - Permanence and Adoption
Working pattern: Hybrid working
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary: £47,665 - £50,908
Contract: Permanent
We are looking for experienced social workers to join our Permanence and Adoption Team as Advanced Social Work Practitioners.
Our Permanence and Adoption Team is dedicated to achieving safe, stable and loving families for children whose plan is adoption. We work alongside children, prospective adopters and partner agencies to ensure permanence is achieved without unnecessary delay, supporting children through one of the most significant transitions in their lives.
As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner, you'll combine direct work with children and families with a key practice leadership role. You'll hold a caseload of complex permanence and adoption work, while providing guidance, coaching and support to colleagues across the service.
Working with children who have a plan of adoption, you'll lead on family finding, matching and permanence planning, ensuring children's needs remain at the heart of all decision-making. You'll undertake complex assessments, contribute to adoption matching processes, support children through transitions into their adoptive families and work closely with adopters through to the final adoption hearing. You'll play an important role in developing practice, supporting less experienced social workers and promoting high-quality, relationship-based social work.
This is an ideal opportunity for experienced practitioners who are passionate about delivering excellent permanence planning and securing the best possible futures for children. It offers the opportunity to extend your influence beyond your own caseload while continuing to undertake meaningful direct work with children and families.
You'll bring:
- A recognised social work qualification and Social Work England registration
- Significant post-qualification experience working with children, young people and families
- Strong assessment, analysis and risk management skills
- Experience of permanence planning, adoption work or looked after children services
- The ability to coach, mentor and support colleagues
- Confidence in complex decision making and multi-agency working
- A commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children through timely permanence
Through reflective supervision, coaching and ongoing professional development, you'll be supported to strengthen your practice leadership skills and continue progressing your career within a service that values learning, development and professional excellence.
Our career pathway recognises growing expertise, professional influence and leadership, creating opportunities to progress into management roles while continuing to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and families across Nottingham.
Our benefits include:
- A competitive salary
- Generous annual leave entitlement (between 26 and 33 days per year depending on your length of service)
- Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme with an 18.5% employer contribution
- Flexible hybrid working
- A strong focus on wellbeing
- Opportunities for professional development and career progression
In return, we are looking for compassionate, dedicated people who share our commitment to improving outcomes for children, young people, adults, and families across Nottingham. If you are passionate about making a positive difference through education and social care and want to help people thrive, we would love to hear from you.
