We are looking for an experienced, customer-focused Account Manager to join our team, based at our Cardiff office.
You’ll manage a portfolio of large, longstanding customer accounts across Wales and the South West, with a combined annual turnover of around £1 million or more. You’ll build strong relationships, understand your customers’ requirements and work closely with our technical and operational teams to deliver a reliable, high-quality service.
The role combines client relationship management, technical knowledge and commercial responsibility. You’ll review contracts, identify gaps in service provision and recommend appropriate work to support customers with their water hygiene responsibilities, while maintaining account profitability.
This is a great opportunity for someone with account management or client-facing experience and a solid understanding of the water hygiene industry who is looking to develop their career within a supportive, growing business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing a portfolio of key customer accounts, acting as their main point of contact
- Building trusted, long-term relationships through regular communication, customer meetings and site visits
- Reviewing contracts against relevant water hygiene legislation, standards and guidance, including ACoP L8 and HSG274 Parts 1, 2 and 3
- Carrying out annual contract renewals and gap analyses to identify changes in customer requirements or service provision
- Managing customer budgets, monitoring account profitability and following up on payment terms
- Preparing quotations for remedial works, additional services and customer requests
- Identifying appropriate opportunities for ethical upselling and cross-selling based on customer needs and compliance requirements
- Helping customers understand and manage hazards and outstanding actions through Opuz
- Working closely with service delivery, plumbing and risk assessment teams to ensure work is planned and completed in line with contractual requirements
- Monitoring contractual obligations and key performance indicators, addressing issues with the relevant teams
- Preparing and presenting reports at customer meetings
- Delivering Legionella awareness training to customers
- Contributing to tenders, bids and proposals
- Maintaining accurate customer records, quotations and account information using company systems
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong relationship-building skills. You’ll be organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of your accounts, with a practical approach to resolving issues.
You’ll bring:
- Experience in account management or a client-facing service role, ideally within water hygiene or a related technical industry
- A solid understanding of ACoP L8 and HSG274 Parts 1, 2 and 3
- Commercial awareness, including an understanding of budgets, profitability and the sales cycle
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence presenting information to customers
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and customer management systems
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer meetings and sites
Experience conducting Legionella Risk Assessments and a health and safety qualification, such as NEBOSH or equivalent, would be beneficial but are not essential.
