Job Description

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Emergency Department and New Victoria Minor Injuries Unit for an experienced Registered Nurse with Emergency Department (ED) experience to join the team.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong commitment to Emergency Department and Major Trauma Care. The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for Emergency Nursing and a desire to progress within the specialty.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • This is a permanent post working 36 hour per week
  • Location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) Emergency Department and New Victoria Minor Injuries Unit
  • Work Pattern: Full-time rotational shift pattern, including:
    • Day shifts: 07:30 19:45
    • Night shifts: 19:30 07:45
    • Weekend working as required
Applicants must be flexible and able to work across all shift patterns.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a busy Emergency Department environment, supporting the delivery of both Major Trauma and Emergency Care services.

You will contribute to achieving unscheduled care performance targets and service objectives while ensuring that quality standards and key performance indicators are consistently met. You will be expected to demonstrate effective leadership, prioritisation, communication, and organisational skills, working collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.

The role also includes participating in service development and quality improvement initiatives to support the ongoing enhancement of patient care and departmental performance.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Essential

  • Registered Nurse qualification.
  • Significant Emergency Department experience.
  • Relevant experience working at Band 5 level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Emergency Department processes and patient pathways.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, prioritisation, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to delivering patient-centred care.

Desirable

  • Evidence of continued education at an advanced level.
  • Demonstrable involvement in quality improvement activities.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development within Emergency Nursing and Major Trauma Care.
