The business tax team is specifically looking to recruit a senior manager who will, ideally, be situated in Jersey to support the rapid growth of our business tax service lines.
The successful candidate will be expected to reside and work in Jersey, a prominent global financial center offering an exceptional quality of life. Full relocation support and work permit sponsorship will be provided.
The role: Senior Manager, Business Tax
You will report directly to the relevant Service Line Heads, with very close interaction with other parts of the wider tax function.
Each senior manager is responsible for managing a wide portfolio of business tax clients addressing both their tax compliance and advisory needs. Each senior manager will be responsible for appropriate financial metrics are delivered across their portfolio, developing the broader KPMG team and focusing on process improvement (with a particular focus on the potential use cases for Artificial Intelligence), whilst ensuring that all KPMG policy and procedures requirements are fulfilled. This role also includes external-facing responsibilities, with scope to be involved in business development and networking.
Role and Responsibilities:
Primarily, the successful candidate’s duties will include the following:
- Regularly reviewing written tax advice in the form of memos, letters, reports, and email correspondence.
- Managing a diverse portfolio of business tax clients and having oversight of the tax reporting cycle for those clients.
- Preparing proposal and tender documents for new client relationships and new engagements.
- Identifying and supporting business development opportunities, with guidance to help build confidence and develop skills in external networking and client engagement.
- Managing financial metrics across the portfolio including oversight of your own work in progress, billing, cash collection and job budgeting.
- Building strong internal relationships with leadership and management in our other tax service lines and other functions (including our business services teams).
- Actively keeping up to date with changes in local and international tax matters and assisting with the production of bulletins for clients.
- Mentoring and coaching more junior members of the team, including providing feedback and relevant training; including acting as performance manager to a number of appraisees.
- Developing strong and trusted relationships within the business development targets including attending business events and hosting training sessions.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A strong sense of initiative and proven ability to manage large and varied projects with resilience, especially under pressure.
- Previous experience in a professional services environment and familiarity with client onboarding and risk management procedures.
- Qualified ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA, ATT or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in either a UK, UK based (e.g. Ireland, New Zealand, Malta) or, preferably, Crown Dependencies business tax environment
