Requirements
Candidates should have good IT experience, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and familiarity with a scripting language like Python. A BSc in Physics or Medical Physics is required or in progress, with an MSc being desirable.
Job Description
This is a fixed term (1 month) summer internship in Radiotherapy Physics to carry out a project relating to radiotherapy service development and gain experience working in a Radiotherapy Physics department.
There will be opportunities to gain experience in Medical Physics throughout the duration of the role, and contribute to some routine aspects of radiotherapy service delivery whilst under the supervision of Clinical Scientists and Clinical Technologists in the department.
Graduates and/or students planning to apply to the Scientist Training Programme (STP) in Radiotherapy are particularly encouraged to submit their application.

Main duties of the job

- The post holder must be sufficiently dextrous to position delicate instruments such as radiation dose meters accurately without damaging the sensitive devices
- The post holder must be sufficiently dextrous for fine control of radiotherapy treatment planning computers in order that the delineations of organs and target volumes are made with the - intended accuracy.
- Good numeracy, literacy, and logical thinking skills.
- The post holder must be strong enough to move dosimetry equipment weighing up to 12 Kg
- The post holder must have the emotional resilience to spend time working in the vicinity of terminally ill cancer patients including young patients.
