Requirements
Candidates must have full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise. The position is suitable for those considering the CESR route, and sponsorship is available for those without right of residence in the UK.
Job Description
The posts are based within the existing teams with access to departmental teaching and other developmental opportunities. Despite not being recognised as ‘training posts’ they allow doctors to improve the breadth and depth of their experience in Anaesthetics. We are encouraging those considering the CESR route to apply for this post, as we have had several fellows be successful in this process.
Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.

The STH anaesthetic department provides anaesthesia services for both the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and the Northern General Hospital.
Being a tertiary and quaternary referral centre, the clinical caseload is stimulating, and resident doctors experience a variety of interesting and challenging cases, having opportunities to learn advanced skills and techniques.
We provide anaesthesia for Cardiothoracic surgery, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics, Complex Urology and Gynaecology, ENT and Max-Fax, Breast surgery, Plastic and reconstructive, and Burns surgery, complex Colorectal, Upper GI, and HPB surgery, Orthopaedics and Trauma, Spinal Injuries, Renal including transplant services, Vascular and interventional radiology.
We are also a Major Trauma Centre and as such, our residents experience being part of an active Major Trauma response team.
Additionally, we provide anaesthesia at non-theatre locations, including for Fluoroscopy procedures, Endoscopy, MRI, and ECT, and offer experience in deep sedation
