About the role: 

This position is for a February 2027 commencement with contract offered for a period of one year. To be eligible for this position, applicant need to be PGY7+ at the time of commencement.

Canberra Health Services (CHS) is dedicated to delivering high-quality, effective, person-centred care, providing acute, sub-acute, primary, and community-based health services to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding region.

Join a robust medical team led by 50 FACEMs, including five PEMs, and a large Registrar cohort.

Play a pivotal role in one of the busiest EDs in the country, with greater than 100,000 presentations annually, 25%25 paediatric caseload. We are the regional referral centre for Trauma, Paediatrics and Women’s health; and support ACT and a large area of southern NSW.

The PGF is supervised by ED Specialists and will assist in the supervision of Junior Medical Officers, as well as provide direct clinical care for patients. The PGF will take part in the on-call consultant roster, with ED Staff Specialist backup on-call.

It is especially recognized as a good place to raise a family. We have immediate access to National Parks, hiking, climbing and are 3 hours from both the beach and the snow.

Prior to commencement, the successful candidates will be required to:

•     Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check

•     Comply with Canberra Health Services Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination policy
