NHS Grampian invites enthusiastic applicants for a Locum Consultant in General Paediatrics with an interest in Diabetes and Endocrine, based within Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.
This job is open to paediatricians with substantial knowledge and experience of working in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at secondary or tertiary level. The current post also includes a contribution to the General Paediatric rota in addition to being consultant of the week on pro rota basis. However, there is flexibility within the system for those candidates who may bring a particular strength to the service and those who want to work part-time.
The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital has a total of 93 beds, providing specialist inpatient and outpatient care in medical paediatrics and its sub-specialities, general paediatric surgery, orthopaedic and plastic surgery, ENT, dermatology, orthodontics, ophthalmology, clinical genetics and child and family psychiatry. The Department of Community Child Health and a purpose built Child Protection suite are located within the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. RACH has its own Accident and Emergency Department under direct consultant supervision. There are approximately 8000 attendances annually of which two thirds are acute admissions. The Paediatric service is delivered by a total of 22 medical & surgical consultants, 10 associate specialists, two speciality doctors and 15 RCPCH trainees.
