Requirements
Candidates must be a level 1 Registered Nurse with considerable experience at Band 5 in an acute care setting. A willingness to undertake training for extended clinical roles and previous research experience is desirable but not essential.
Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Oncology Nurse to join a busy and successful research delivery team within the NIHR/Clinical Research Facility at UHB as a Band 6 Research Sister/Charge Nurse. The NIHR/CRF is an early-phase research unit focused on experimental medicine, delivering a diverse portfolio of complex interventional studies spanning both commercial and academic research.
This role is primarily to support the delivery of early phase oncology trials with a focus on Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) trials. The ECMC is a leading UK wide initiative that focuses on advancing the development of new and novel oncology treatments.
The post holder will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of multi-specialty oncology clinical trials. You will work closely with Principal Investigators and the wider multidisciplinary team to support the safe and effective implementation of complex clinical trial protocols. Support and development will be given to the successful candidate by the existing experienced[FL1.1] Early phase Nursing team.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
As a Research nurse leading on the multi-specialty early phase oncology portfolio, you will be required to:
- Set up, coordinate, and deliver clinical trials, demonstrating a high level of organisation and attention to detail to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of studies, in line with trial protocols, research governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Safely administer investigational medicinal products, which include systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT), ensuring full compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Deliver high-quality, safe, and patient-centred care, with a strong focus on enhancing patient experience throughout the research pathway.
- Possess excellent communication skills, problem solving and the ability to collaborate with internal and external teams effectively.
- Use I.T systems and extended software to facilitate role.
- Incorporate a blend of research and clinical responsibilities, that are patient focused.
- Work autonomously within the scope of the role, while also contributing effectively as a member of the wider research and clinical team.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register
- Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing
- SACT Competent -- experience in delivering SACT regimes
- Health care management / leadership qualification.
Essential
- Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
- Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting /Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
- Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
- Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
- SACT delivery
- Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
- Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
- Evidence of Research knowledge
- Experience of clinical trials/ studies/ research coordination
