Job Description

The Role

As a Mental Health Nurse within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will be part of a compassionate and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality inpatient care. You will play a key role in supporting individuals through their recovery journey, using a person-centred and strengths-based approach to care.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Duration: Permanent

Location: Gartnavel Royal Hospital

Hours: Full Time (36 Hours)

Working Pattern: 12-hour day shift

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver holistic, person-centred nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programmes
  • Act as Named Nurse for a defined patient group, building therapeutic relationships with patients and carers
  • Undertake risk assessments and contribute to risk management planning in line with policy and legislation
  • Administer medications and monitor their effectiveness in accordance with clinical standards
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support recovery and safe care transitions
  • Supervise and support Healthcare Support Workers and contribute to the learning and development of others
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and escalate any concerns appropriately

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and engagement in reflective practice
  • Sound knowledge of mental health conditions, recovery approaches and relevant legislation
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective therapeutic relationships
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and make informed clinical decisions
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and using digital systems to support care delivery
