Job Description

The Role
The position is for an Endoscopy Decontamination Unit (EDU) Technician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The core purpose of the role is to decontaminate, disinfect, assemble, store, and distribute reusable flexible endoscopes, following manufacturer instructions and ensuring safe use for patients across clinics, theatres, and other treatment areas.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. - Decontamination and disinfection of reusable flexible endoscopes
- Assembly, storage, and distribution of scopes to clinical areas
- Working to strict quality and safety standards in a fastpaced environment
- Ensuring continuity of patient care through timely processing
- Being multiskilled across all areas of EDU operations
Essential Experience & Skills
- Experience in working in an EDU or Sterile Services Unit (SSU)
- Ability to work to strict safety and quality standards
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Basic IT knowledge
- Good literacy, numeracy, and manual dexterity
- Ability to work well within a team
