Senior Partnership Development Officer

This vacancy is only eligible for Visa Sponsorship under specific conditions. Please do not apply unless you have another means of establishing a right to work, or you are already employed by the NHS and would transfer to the pay point above the base of a Band 6 and based at a location which attracts Inner or Outer Higher Cost Area Supplements.

The successful candidate may be based at any of our main centres in England, by agreement.

Job Summary

You will work directly with the Communications, Marketing and Service Operation Teams in Blood and Organ Donation at NHSBT, collaborating closely with key partner contacts to deliver blood and organ donation partnerships. Drawing on your existing knowledge, skills, and expertise, you will develop and manage national relationships aimed at driving a consistent and sustained increase in blood and organ donor registrations. These efforts will contribute to help stabilise blood stocks across England and helping to reduce the transplant waiting list across the UK.

In addition to supporting the department lead and key internal and external stakeholders across the NHS, you will be expected to work independently, using your initiative and discretion to shape the role and its impact.

This position will be instrumental in enhancing existing service delivery pathways across both public and private sector industries, and where necessary, creating new ones to influence behaviour change and improve donor recruitment rates for blood and organ donation.

As part of the Communications and Engagement Directorate, you’ll engage with a wide range of audiences to drive performance. With a strong emphasis on capability building, you’ll have access to coaching and development opportunities from the department lead and wider team.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for delivering the success of national and regional Blood and Organ Donation Partnerships and to ensure that we have the right volume and mix of organ donors to meet patients’ needs, today and in the future. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, implementing and evaluating a component of the partnership strategy in support of the organisation’s aims and objectives.
  • Initiating and developing strategic partnerships with relevant organisations and companies; to help raise awareness and deliver organ donor recruitment.
  • Having significant experience of partner outreach and management, they will work closely with relevant colleagues to ensure that contact and work with partners and stakeholders is managed consistently and effectively.
  • Working closely with the relevant communication, marketing and operational teams to ensure that opportunities for building user-centred pathways to deliver partnerships effectively.


You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of working in a partnership/business development role
  • Experience of managing relationships with partners
  • Excellent knowledge of campaigns and marketing activities and experience of working with specialist communications teams (e.g. Marketing & Campaigns, Media & PR, Stakeholder Relations) as well as partners and other external contacts to deliver integrated publicity campaigns
  • Experience of giving professional advice and support through influence and persuasion
  • Experience of the techniques and systems for evaluating partnership and engagement activity
  • Understanding of and respect for donor/patient confidentiality
  • Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) to an advanced level


Qualifications And Training

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Relevant postgraduate degree/professional qualification or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
