Vets Now Referrals Glasgow is a busy private referral hospital and first-opinion out-of-hours emergency provider located in the heart of Glasgow. Our team of referral clinicians in Internal Medicine and Oncology collaborate closely with colleagues in Anaesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency and Critical Care, Orthopaedics, and Soft Tissue Surgery, supported by a highly skilled nursing team.
We are proud to host European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS) residency programme in Emergency and Critical Care and soon Diagnostic Imaging, alongside well-established internship programmes.

We are seeking enthusiastic applicants for our Internal Medicine and/or Oncology Discipline-Specific Internship (DSI) starting on the 28th September 2026.
This 12-month Training Position Offers
- A split rotation between Internal Medicine and Oncology.
- Close supervision and mentorship from experienced ECVIM-CA specialists and highly experienced Oncologists.
- Hands-on case involvement, with opportunities for primary case responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with specialists to investigate and manage a wide variety of Internal Medicine and Oncology cases.
- Participate in rotations across other disciplines or arrange externships in external hospitals.
- Contribute to seminars, journal clubs, and teaching opportunities.
- Engage in clinical research projects and independent study.
- Maintain accurate medical records and high standards of patient and client care.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
To be eligible, you must have:
- A veterinary degree recognised by the RCVS.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the RCVS.
- Eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship may be available and will need to be discussed).
- At least one year of experience working in small animal practice (a rotating internship is desirable but not essential).
- Strong communication and English language skills (formal certification such as IELTS or TOEFL is desirable).
- A genuine interest in small animal Internal Medicine and/or Oncology.
- High clinical standards, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
- A proactive and collaborative attitude, with a commitment to patient and client care.
- 1:6 Weekend rota cover required within the OOH Setting
- Salary: £35,000 per annum
- Professional Costs Covered: RCVS and VDS registration fees
- Leave: 7 weeks annual leave, plus your birthday off
- Learning & Development:
- Pre-planned seminars, journal clubs, and ad-hoc teaching opportunities
- Paid CPD allowance and dedicated CPD time
- Time set aside for independent study
- IVC Discipline journal clubs
- Mentorship & Training: Support from a clinical mentor in Internal Medicine or Oncology, with opportunities for advanced procedural training (e.g., endoscopy, bone marrow biopsy, feeding tube placement).
- Exposure to Advanced Facilities: Access to cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment technologies including 64-slice CT, fluoroscopy, and advanced endoscopy equipment.
- Internal Medicine: Led by two ECVIM-CA specialists, working collaboratively across multiple disciplines with access to advanced imaging and endoscopy.
- Oncology: Delivered by a residency trained medical Oncologists and a specialist in Internal Medicine, working closely with surgical and imaging specialists to provide advanced cancer diagnosis and therapy, with a focus on balancing specialist care and quality of life.
