Job Description
Job Title: Research Integrity Advisor (Analytics and Intelligence)
Salary: £35,200-£45,700 per annum
Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid
Contract: Full time, Permanent, 35 hours per week

About The Role
In this role, you will combine investigative expertise with data-driven insight to uphold research integrity and strengthen publishing practices across a global portfolio.
- Lead and resolve complex research integrity and publication ethics cases, ensuring fair, consistent, and evidence-based outcomes
- Use data, analytics, and automation to identify patterns, uncover risks, and generate actionable intelligence for investigations and proactive monitoring
- Develop tools and analytical approaches for the team's toolkit, strengthening our ability to detect and respond to integrity issues at scale
- Provide expert advice and guidance to editors, colleagues, and stakeholders to support high-quality, ethical publishing
- Develop risk, monitoring, and auditing (RMA) approaches to proactively identify and mitigate integrity risks across the portfolio
- Contribute to policy, process, and workflow improvements using insights from casework and data analysis
- Build relationships with other data and analytics colleagues, advocating for the PERI team's interests in broader business data and automation conversations.
- Maintaining an understanding of key developments in the publishing ethics and research integrity landscape.
- Contribute to working groups and project teams where your expertise is relevant, and manage small projects within the PERI team.
- Collaborate across teams and contribute to training, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives in service of high publishing and research standards.
- If opportunities arise, contribute to the team's thought leadership and meta-research initiatives.
About You
- You bring a strong combination of investigative judgement, knowledge of publishing, analytical thinking, and a commitment to upholding high standards in research and publishing.
- You have experience handling research integrity, publication ethics, editorial/peer review, or investigative work, with the ability to assess complex and sensitive issues fairly and objectively
- You have strong analytical skills and are confident working with data—able to combine multiple sources to identify patterns and generate robust, evidence-based insights
- You are naturally curious and detail-oriented, with a track record of following evidence, asking the right questions, and avoiding premature conclusions
- You communicate clearly and diplomatically, translating complex or technical issues into practical advice for a range of stakeholders
- You hold yourself to high standards of professionalism and integrity, and are comfortable working with ambiguity and difficult or sensitive situations.
- You are well organised, able to manage competing priorities and projects, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team
- You are motivated by improving research integrity and are keen to contribute to policy, process, and continuous improvement initiatives
- You are open to developing or applying analytical tools and approaches to strengthen the team's investigative capabilities

- Awareness of legal issues impacting publishing ethics and research integrity
- Knowledge and experience working with open-source integrity data (e.g. OpenAlex, CrossRef, Retraction Watch, Problematic Paper Screener)
- We are particularly interested in candidates with academic expertise in computer science, engineering, physics, or another discipline represented in Cambridge's portfolio, and which complements the team's existing expertise (earth/environmental science, political science, biomedical science, history).
